I introduced a resolution alongside Rep. Andy Biggs to require DHS to surrender all records to Congress regarding the Secret Service’s handling of President Trump’s July 13th rally in Butler, PA.
Thanks to the current co-sponsors for joining the fight for transparency.

The DHS Inspector General has reported that the Biden-Harris State Department waived vetting processes for 7-9 million people to whom they gave visas.
This is a serious lapse in our security, leaving massive vulnerabilities for terrorists to exploit.

House Republicans must use our leverage in next month's spending battle to:
1. Stop non-citizens from voting in AMERICAN elections and
2. Ensure Democrats can't undermine President Trump's 2nd term with a "lame duck" omnibus.
Let's get it done.

It’s hard to believe that a 20-year-old kid acting on his own was able to: -Conduct drone surveillance -Set up advanced explosives -Get within 150 yards of Trump with an AR-15 -Fire 8 shots
I appreciate Benny Johnson for investigating and asking the important questions.

I’m disappointed that Rep. Cory Mills, Rep. Morgan Luttrell, & I were not placed on the task force investigating the Trump assassination attempt.
Although I wasn’t selected, I'm going to continue to do whatever I can to help get to the bottom of this & make sure it never happens again.

What does 'leadership to secure the border' really look like?
It's quite simple...You just do the exact opposite of what the Democrats are doing.
Huge thanks to Jody Hice for having me on.

- Introduced Legislation Demanding DHS Turn Over Documents on the Trump Assassination Attempt: Congressman Crane introduced legislation directing Secretary Mayorkas to submit all documents, records, and communications on the attempted assassination of President Trump. As you may know, my boss has traveled to Butler, PA with the Homeland Security Committee, as well as with Rep. Mills and Benny Johnson to conduct a site survey and hold discussions with bystanders. As a former Navy SEAL sniper, he was able to point out security vulnerabilities. By introducing, the Congressman is utilizing Congress’ Article I lawmaking power, to direct Secretary Mayorkas to submit everything he has on the assassination attempt.
- Cosigned Letter to Secret Service on Trump Assassination Attempt: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Biggs (R-AZ) in writing a letter to the Secret Service, asking for the recommendations in the Inspector General’s report on January 6th, and whether those were implemented by Secret Service ahead of the Butler, PA rally. As you know, the U.S. House of Representatives is investigating the Secret Service’s preparation for President Trump’s July 13, 2024, rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and their response to his attempted assassination. Public reporting indicates that the Secret Service is in possession of a draft report by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG) focused on Secret Service’s preparation for and response to events on January 6, 2021. The story specifically states that the release of the report “could cast light on a series of embarrassing security lapses for the agency.” It’s also been publicly reported that Secret Service has been in possession of the draft report since April of this year. By signing on, the Congressman asserts that Congress, and the American people, deserve to understand whether the security lapses at the rally are a part of a larger pattern of negligence.
- Cosigned Letter to DHS on Combatting Marriage Fraud in Immigration: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Biggs (R-AZ) in letter to Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas asking if DHS plans to implement any new policies to better detect marriage fraud in illegal immigration due to the administration’s new marriage amnesty program. As you may know, Marriage fraud detection is already a major problem for DHS and is used by a variety of groups, from individuals who simply don’t qualify for any legal pathways to foreign terrorist organizations, including Al Qaeda and Hezbollah. This issue will only be exacerbated by the recently announced amnesty program for spouses of American citizens who have lived in the U.S. for a certain amount of time. By signing on, the Congressman pledges to stand up for strengthened national security
- Cosponsored Dustoff Crews of the Vietnam War Congressional Gold Medal Act: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Kilmer (D-WA) in introducing H.R. 1015, the Dustoff Crews of the Vietnam War Congressional Gold Medal Act, which awards a Congressional Gold Medal to the Dustoff crews—helicopter air ambulance teams—who performed over 500,000 Combat Medical Evacuation missions during the Vietnam War. As you may know, there are at least two confirmed Dustoff veterans residing in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, and likely many more that have not been identified. By supporting this bill, Congressman Crane honors their bravery and service during the Vietnam War.
- Cosponsored TBI and PTSD Treatment Act: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Biggs (R-AZ) in introducing H.R. 105, the TBI and PTSD Treatment Act, which would direct the Veterans Administration (VA) to furnish Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Moreover, it aims to give veterans the freedom to use their health care benefits when treating injuries sustained through service specifically for TBI and PTSD.
- Letter to Secretary McDonough regarding lack of PACT Act training for VA employees: Congressman Crane sent a letter to Secretary McDonough regarding the lack of PACT Act training for employees handling disability claims, specifically for veterans exposed to toxins. This letter serves as a follow up on issues discussed during the July 23rd DAMA Hearing titled "Is the Veteran Benefits Administration Properly Processing and Deciding Veterans Claims?" The hearing highlighted deficiencies within the VBA, particularly concerning inadequate staff training. It appears there is no specialized training plan in place for processing PACT Act claims. Congressman Crane requests further details regarding this issue.

Trump shooting task force missing this critical component, House GOP military veteran says Fox News
Key Excerpts: - Former Navy SEAL Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., is concerned that the bipartisan House task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Trump is missing a critical component in terms of the experience of its members.
- "I did reach out to the speaker and volunteered and reminded the speaker that I was…one of the snipers in Congress. I think there's only three of us. So clearly it's not about me," Crane told Fox News Digital in an interview.
- "I think there's three — myself, [Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., and Rep. Morgan Luttrell, R-Texas]. If even one of us was put on that committee, I think it would have shown that they were actually trying to put at least a cross-section of experience on the committee. But that didn't happen."
- Crane argued that the circumstances of the shooting — a 20-year-old gunman firing an AR-style rifle from 400 to 500 feet away from Trump, then subsequently being killed by a Secret Service sniper — added to the need for someone with his experience.
- "I am a former Navy SEAL sniper. The actual term would be NSW, Naval Special Warfare sniper. I graduated from sniper school in 2009 and went to several other advanced sniper schools. And I think the reason that it's important is because, obviously…the alleged individual that tried to kill the president, did take a shot at the president, was training prior to taking a shot at the president," Crane said.
- "You're dealing with counter sniper teams. You're dealing with the advance work that was done, you're dealing with, you know, someone who can cite angles, trajectories — all sorts of things that snipers have to be proficient and experienced in. And so I don't know, it just kind of makes sense that in this specific case, you would probably want people to have that background and experience on your task force."
- The task force, comprised of six Democrats and seven Republicans, was announced by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., after a unanimous House vote to commission it.
- Crane and Mills are aiming to launch a parallel probe to make up for what they see are shortfalls on the existing task force, Mills indicated Monday on X.
- "I wish the members of [the] Task Force well, and think it’s time for a parallel independent investigation with subject matter experts (SME) and the whistleblowers who’ve already come forward," Mills wrote, adding that he and Crane had already heard from people in those groups.
See Where Countersnipers Could Have Stopped the Trump Rally Gunman The New York Times
Key Excerpts: - Where countersnipers were stationed — and where they were not — has emerged as a point of contention in assessing security failures at the July 13 assassination attempt at a rally for former President Donald J. Trump.
- Since the shooting, testimonies from law enforcement officials before House and Senate panels have pointed to critical spots near the rally that could have allowed countersnipers to spot the gunman before he fired eight shots, including one that grazed Mr. Trump’s ear.
- The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, managed to climb up on top of an AGR International warehouse, walk across its roof and begin shooting — all while evading countersnipers.
- The tallest structure in the area was a water tower about 450 feet away from the warehouse Mr. Crooks used as his perch. About 108 feet high, its platform would have provided countersnipers with one of the clearest views of the warehouse rooftop and the rally grounds, according to analysis with a 3-D model built by The New York Times.
- The analysis found that views from at least three of the countersniper positions were limited for a number of reasons, including the slope of the roof that the gunman chose and a tree that blocked the line of sight for one of two Secret Service countersniper teams.
- In a House committee hearing on July 23, Representative Eli Crane, a Republican from Arizona and a former NAVY seal sniper, who visited the rally site after the shooting, raised questions about why no countersniper team was positioned on the “tallest structure by far on the site with 360 surveillance.”
- The water tower was outside a secure perimeter the Secret Service delineated as part of its plan, even though it was within a rifle’s range of Mr. Trump.
- When asked why no agents were stationed there, Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned as the Secret Service director 10 days after the assassination attempt, said “that would not be something that would be included in a security plan.” She did not provide any more details.
BOMBSHELL: Rep. Crane - Homeland Security IG reports over seven million 'unvetted alien' visa holders are inside the U.S. Law Enforcement Today
Key Excerpts: - A report from the Homeland Security Inspector General (IG) issued in July has somehow flown under the radar, but it is being highlighted by freshman Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) in a post on X this week.
- Last month, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) reported that the IG informed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) via a formal alert of an “urgent issue” that required immediate attention.
- In that alert, the IG said that some 7.1 million foreign nationals were granted visas and allowed entry into the United States despite officials having not interviewed the aliens, nor in some cases even collected fingerprints.
- According to the IG, the decision by the State Department to waive the interviews and fingerprints was due to staffing shortages and backlogs that developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and an effort to manage those issues.
- However the IG found that CBP, tasked with protecting our borders, was not informed which “non-immigrant visa holders” arriving at the border had received only limited screening.
- Had they possessed that information, they could have conducted additional screenings in order “to make more informed decisions” upon inspection, FAIR reported.
- The IG said the problem stems from a “lack of information sharing” between two federal agencies, the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- “This is a serious lapse in our security, leaving massive vulnerabilities for terrorists to exploit,” Crane wrote on X.
- In a video attached to the tweet, Crane said that the “Harris, Biden, Mayorkas administration” has been “completely horrible” when it comes to “homeland security and our southern border.”
- He referred to the IG’s report as “a whole new bag of awful.”
- Crane said CBP officers have no idea that the people who present a visa have not been properly vetted and are letting them into the country.
- “I don’t know about you guys, but as an American I want people who come here to work or go to school to actually have to get vetted because I’m sure you guys with common sense can realize this is just another pathway that a terrorist can exploit to get into the United States of America with a legitimate visa…and be walking around here ready to do harm to America,” Crane said.
- FBI DIrector Christopher Wray months ago warned Congress that the United States is in very dangerous times and another terrorist attack could happen “at any time.”
Johnson faces frustration from hard-liners on spending issues The Hill
Key Excerpts: - Hard-line conservatives in the House left Washington frustrated that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) didn’t uphold his promises on pushing through spending legislation — though they did not necessarily blame him.
- Johnson has now been in his post longer than his predecessor, who was ousted in part due to frustration with how he handled spending issues. But he is not closer to pleasing hard-line conservatives on spending matters.
- “It’s the same frustrations, you know, from last year,” said Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.), a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
- Though Johnson had pledged as he was running for Speaker last year that he would keep the House in session through August until all the spending bills passed, the House canceled scheduled votes for the last week of July and started August recess early.
- “I believed that we were going to actually do something on the budget, on the spending bills. That’s what we were told last year,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) said.
- “When Kevin [mccarthy] became Speaker, that didn’t happen. And we were told it’s going to happen this year, and if it didn’t happen, we’re gonna stay through August. That’s not happening.”
- ”Don’t say that stuff to me,” Biggs added, “if you don’t mean it.”

Last week, I joined my friend, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, to take a trip from Coolidge down to the border.
The Biden-Harris regime has turned AZ into a welcome mat for the evils coming across the border, including fentanyl, which is now the deadliest drug in our state.
