House Adopts Rep. Eli Crane's Amendment to Restore Veterans' Gun Rights

Biden Administration Allows Ukraine to Strike Inside Russia with U.S. Weapons

Republican lawmaker accuses SBA of trying to keep Michigan blue for Biden

• During a congressional hearing, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) said the Small Business Administration is working to get out the vote for President Joe Biden in Michigan and keep the swing state blue this November.
  
  
• The House Small Business Committee held a hearing on Tuesday scrutinizing the SBA’s involvement in voter registration efforts in Michigan, a swing state both parties view critical to locking in a win this November.
  
  
• Witnesses testifying before the committee expressed concern over the SBA’s actions, including Elaine Parker, who called such actions “election interference.” Parker is the president of the Job Creators Network Foundation.
  
  
• In March, SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman announced what she called the "first-of-its-kind collaboration" with the Michigan Department of State to “help connect Michiganders to vital voter registration information from the State of Michigan so that more small business owners can exercise their right to vote."
  
  
• The SBA’s directive follows a 2021 executive order from Biden ordering all federal agencies to promote "access to voting.”
  
  
• Witness Stewart Whitson told Crane that since Michigan “is a key battleground state, it doesn’t require a lot of votes for it [sba] to make a significant impact.” Whitson is the senior director of federal affairs for the Foundation for Government Accountability.
  
  
• Whitson went on to explain the SBA’s involvement in the voter registration process in swing states. “This is part of the executive order. It commanded every single executive agency to take part in this whole of government get out the vote effort to benefit the Biden administration. SBA is one of those tools,” Whitson said. 
  
  
• Under oath, Whitson stated that the federal government had given “unlimited funding, resources, reach, and power of the federal government and its agencies in every state.” The witness went on to claim that the SBA is not the only federal agency conducting voter registration on behalf of the Biden administration.
  
  
• Whitson said the Department of Health and Human Services turned more than 1,400 federally qualified health centers into voter registration "hubs," the Department of Labor Services has turned 2,300 job centers into voter registration centers, and the Department of Education is "allowing" federal work-study funds to help college students support left-wing groups register voters in Democratic strongholds.
  
  
• Crane pointed to recent comments made by Tyler Robinson, special adviser to the SBA, in which he, according to Crane, said, “SBA Administrator Guzman is the most traveled Cabinet member, visits battleground states with Democrat members of Congress to help them and Biden get reelected.”
  
  
• He added, "She indirectly campaigns for the president by announcing or highlighting investments in certain communities by the Biden-Harris administration to sway support,” per Crane.
  
  
• When asked if the SBA’s actions were partisan, Whitson said, “Absolutely.”
  
  
• “It’s what campaigns do, right? Campaigns engage in get-out-the-vote efforts. And they don’t try to get out the vote of every kind of voter. They try to get out the vote of the voters that will put them in office. And so that’s the problem, now the federal executive branch is engaging in this. A federal executive branch led by a member of one political party and using that apparatus to engage in a get out the vote scheme,” he added.

Palestinian immigrant ban led by GOP House maverick: 'Too dangerous'

• In a statement, Gaetz highlighted that other countries in the region do not typically take Palestinian refugees and the U.S. has existing national security concerns related to the crisis at the southern border.
  
  
• "If Palestinian refugees are too dangerous for our allies in the region, they are certainly too dangerous for the United States. The Biden administration's border policies have already exacerbated national security concerns across our country," he said.

Navajo Nation leaders advocate for water rights in meetings with key officials, congressional delegations

Crane Warns of Tunnels Under Border and Need to Fight Them

• In April, Representative Eli Crane's (R-AZ) Subterranean Border Defense Act, which aims to combat instances of tunneling under the southern border by the Mexican drug cartels, passed in committee.
  
  
• As previously reported, Rep. Crane drew attention to the persistent tunneling problem under the Southwest border.
  
  
• Since 1990, approximately 140 tunnels have been discovered, a number that, in his words, "I do not think it gets a lot of attention because, obviously, it is subterranean, and we do not know all of them."
  
  
• The ability to detect these passages is further hampered by "our border checkpoints and in-between checkpoints are so overflowing with illegals coming into the country that it ties up a bunch of resources. And I think that makes it problematic because the tunnels are where they move a lot of the narcotics, but it is also where they could move weapons of mass destruction and some of the more serious terrorists if the price was right," Rep. Crane warned.
  
  
• Hence, part of the Subterranean Border Defense Act would require the Department of Homeland Security to report annually on anti-tunnel actions to Congress, which can then regularly update strategies and defenses.
  
  
• "It is hard for us to really allocate resources if we are not getting reporting and we do not have situational awareness of that threat," Crane continued, adding, "It is definitely a concern to many of us that have tried to be the canary in the coal mine about threats coming over the southern border and why Joe Biden's policies are so dangerous."
  
  
• Cactus Politics asked if Crane's bill was receiving bipartisan support in the House, and the Arizona Congressman reminded us that Representative Lou Correa (D-CA) helped cosponsor it.
  
  
• "[rep.] Correa actually cosponsored this bill. He is a Democrat from California who also is in a border state; and so he is definitely aware of how serious an issue this is. And so it is great because if it is not bipartisan, it makes it that much harder to actually get into law," Crane concluded.

I was blessed to be able to hold a pinning ceremony for Vietnam War Veterans at VFW Post 10227 in Prescott Valley. This was the second in a series of Vietnam Veterans pinning ceremonies to be held around AZ-02.

Many of these heroes who protected our freedoms and sacrificed immensely in defense of our great nation never received the gratitude and recognition they so righteously earned.

More than 184,000 Vietnam War Veterans live in Arizona and each and every single one of these courageous heroes deserves to be recognized for their service.
