I wish Democrats & their staff were as triggered about all the families whose lives have been destroyed by the consequences of an open-border as they are about Christmas decorations.

- Introduced Bill to Defund Ivy League Schools: Congressman Crane introduced legislation to halt federal funding for any university in the country with an endowment greater than $5 billion. Currently, 21 educational institutions in the United States have endowments that fall into this category, including every Ivy League university. Most of these schools saw alarming increases in antisemitic activity on their campuses following the October 7th Hamas terror attack against Israel, with blatant calls for genocide and Jewish students fearing for their lives. These institutions did little to protect their students, instead helping to cultivate antisemitic environments sympathetic to genocidal terrorists. Right now, American taxpayers are on the hook to finance institutions that function as breeding grounds for hateful, anti-American ideology. That’s on top of the hard-earned tax dollars they’re forced to shill out to the students at these institutions thanks to President Biden’s student loan giveaway. These students take out loans to pay for their indoctrination. Then, the Biden Administration misuses American tax dollars to pay the schools off instead of holding the students accountable for their financial decisions. By introducing this legislation, the Congressman ensures the American people can’t be forced to fund hateful indoctrination from multiple angles, especially with $33 trillion in national debt.

- Cosponsored Bill to Stop Deep State Surveillance: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Biggs (R-AZ) in introducing legislation overhauls Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and requires a warrant for all U.S. person searches. FISA 702 authorizes the federal government to intercept electronic communications of non-U.S. persons who are located outside of the United States. However, the communications of Americans are often swept up when monitoring foreign persons, are kept by the intelligence agencies, and can be later accessed without a warrant. This type of backdoor surveillance has been going on for decades and allows for rampant abuse of the FISA authorities. The legislation additionally reforms the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and closes loopholes that allow the federal government to purchase Americans’ data from Big Tech companies without a warrant. In 2021 alone, the FBI misused FISA 278,000 times to spy on American citizens – including a U.S. congressman and political donors. By signing on, the Congressman keeps his commitment to reining in unchecked surveillance of Americans.
- Letter to DOD on Political Bias at Arlington National Cemetery: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Clyde (R-GA) in writing a letter regarding the Reconciliation Monument in Arlington National Cemetery. As you may know, the Reconciliation Monument, erected by President McKinley, was created to honor the reunification of the United States following the Civil War. In 1898, 33 years after the end of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War brought a sudden, unanticipated harmony and unity to a country that had been riven by war and a punitive postwar military occupation, which failed at wholesale societal reconstruction. Most recently, it was announced this monument is set to be removed by DOD as early as December 18. By signing on, the Congressman pushes back against cancel culture and seeks to promote unity behind American history and principles at our nation’s memorials.
- Cosigned a Letter to ATF on their Recent Proposed Rule: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Good in writing a letter that urges the ATF to immediately withdraw their “engaged in business” rule, which will result in significant increases in burdensome paperwork and more unnecessary background checks for what was previously a lawful transaction of firearms. As you may know, the ATF is using the so called Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) to substantially revise all regulations governing who and what constitutes a “dealer” and how such dealers may conduct business. By singing on, the Congressman pushes back against the Biden administration’s anti-gun agenda that undermines the Second Amendment and the Constitutional rights of all Americans.
- Cosigned a Letter to the ATF on Rejecting Public Comments on their Rule:Congressman Crane joined Congressman Clyde (R-GA) in writing a letter to the ATF regarding their refusal to accept approximately 40,000 comments to their recent “engaged in the business” rule. As you may know, during an attempt to deliver approximately 40,000 petitions to the ATF’s building, citizens were turned away from the door and told to leave the property. This is a flagrant abuse of the First Amendment rights of 40,000 American citizens, some of whom are our constituents. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution specifically protects the right of every American to petition their government for a redress of grievances. By signing on, the Congressman continues to fight for more oversight into this overreaching agency.
- Cosigned a Letter to the ATF on Refusing to Provide Tribal Police with Firearms:Congressman Crane joined Congressman Zinke (R-MT) in writing a letter to the ATF regarding the lack of policy for Tribal police to purchase firearms and less lethal devices. The ATF is claiming the interstate shipment of firearms to Native American tribal police personnel is generally prohibited because “Native American tribes and their police departments are not part of, or agencies of, the United States government, or of a state government or a political subdivision of a State.” However, tribal police officers have very clear role as the official law enforcement agencies for federally recognized sovereign tribes. By signing on, the Congressman calls out the ATF for their blatant politicization of the law.
- Letter Demanding VA Accountability in Facilitating Southern Border Crisis:Congressman Crane joined Rep. Rosendale (R-MT) in writing a letter to the VA demanding more information regarding an arrangement between the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where the VA acts as an intermediary to help process payments for illegal immigrants to receive health care. The VA has refused to respond to previous requests for information from Congress explaining this arrangement, which prevents our bosses from conducting proper oversight. By signing on, the Congressman seeks to hold the Biden Administration accountable from taking resources away from veterans to be used for illegal aliens crossing our southern border.
- Cosponsored Bill Ending Taxpayer Funding of Chinese COVID-19 Tests:Congressman Crane joined Rep. Harshbarger (R-TN) in cosponsoring a bill that ensures federal dollars cannot be used to purchase at-home COVID-19 tests that are manufactured by companies headquartered in Communist China. This legislation responds to recent plans by the Department of Health and Human Services to purchase $600 million in COVID-19 tests from certain manufacturers tied to or owned by Chinese companies.
- Cosponsored Bill to Uphold Responsible Lending Practices for U.S. Citizens:Congressman Crane joined Rep. Self (R-TX) in introducing H.R.6390, the RISK Act, which amends the federal law to allow financial institutions to refuse credit to aliens who do not have lawful status in the United States. Recently, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a joint statement directing financial institutions to disregard the status of illegal aliens in lending decisions. By cosponsoring this bill, the Congressman seeks to prevent increasing financial and national security risks for Americans.
- Cosponsored Bill to Prevent CCP-style Surveillance Over U.S. Digital Currency:Congressman Crane joined Republican Whip Emmer (R-MN) in introducing H.R. 5403, the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act, which halts the efforts of unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. from issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC). In short, a CBDC is government-controlled programmable money that could give the federal government the ability to surveil Americans’ transactions and choke out politically unpopular activity. Recently, the Biden Administration issued an Executive Order placing urgency on CBDC research and development. By cosponsoring this bill, the Congressman seeks to ensure the Fed cannot mobilize itself into a retail bank able to collect personal financial data on Americans.
- Cosponsored Bill to Ensure Transparency in Elections: Congressman Crane joined Rep. Tenney (R-NY) in introducing H.R. 1725, the End Zuckerbucks Act, which amends federal tax law to ban tax-exempt charitable organizations from providing direct or indirect funding (e.g., below-cost services, scholarships, subsidies) to official election organizations, including any state or local government entity or any government election organization. In the 2020 election, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, funded by Meta CEO Zuckerberg, flooded left-leaning county governments in several states including Arizona with opaque private funding to influence election administration. By cosponsoring this bill, the Congressman seeks to ensure nobody can bypass the democratic process to influence the administration of U.S. elections.

- H.R. 4468 – CARS Act of 2023: The Congressman SUPPORTED this legislation, which limits the authority of the EPA to regulate emissions standards for new motor vehicles. Specifically, the EPA cannot prescribe a regulation related to new motor vehicle emissions standards that mandates the use of any specific technology or results in limited availability of new motor vehicles based on the type of engine. The bill also prohibits implementation of an EPA rule on emissions standards. As you may know, EPA released a proposed rule in May 2023 including more stringent greenhouse gas standards for both light-duty and medium duty vehicles starting with model year 2027. By supporting this resolution, the Congressman continues to fight against President Biden’s Green New Deal agenda.
- H.R. 5933 – DETERRENT Act: The Congressman SUPPORTED this legislation, which requires universities to annually disclose to the Department of Education any gifts from a foreign country of concern, gifts from foreign sources valued at $50,000 or more, contracts with foreign countries of concern for which they received a waiver, or substantial control by a foreign source. The bill prohibits universities from entering contracts with a foreign country of concern without obtaining a waiver, requires the disclosure of gifts or contracts between covered individuals (e.g., researchers), and requires certain private universities to file annual investment disclosure reports. As you may know, foreign gift reporting at colleges and universities needs greater accountability, as a recent report indicated that a minimum of 200 institutions withheld information on $13 billion in contributions from foreign entities. China and Iran have actively worked to undermine American interests through our universities. Currently, the foreign gift reporting threshold is $250,000. The bill brings the threshold down to $50,000 for foreign entities and $0 for countries of concern. By voting for this legislation, the Congressman fights to protect American interests from foreign influence and protect our nation’s younger generations from indoctrination at our higher education institutions.
- H.J. Res. 88 – CRA Resolution on Income Driven Repayment and Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Programs: The Congressman SUPPORTED this legislation, which uses the Congressional Review Act to nullify a Department of Education rule that creates a new income-driven repayment plan called the Saving on Valuable Education (SAVE) plan. Specifically the bill invalidates another Biden administration attempt tocancel mass student debt, which would cost the taxpayers $559 billion. The U.S. Supreme Court already struck down the Biden administration’s original illegal student loan forgiveness plan. By voting for this legislation, the Congressman pushes back against yet another back door attempt by the Biden administration to implement mass student debt forgiveness.

Congress takes holiday decorating seriously. This year it caused an outcry Roll Call Key Excerpts: - This year, however, several Democratic lawmakers and staffers are calling out the overtly political decorations of Rep. Eli Crane, an Arizona Republican who hung signs on his doors that say “Have Documents Ready” and “Border Patrol Elves Only.”
- “The competition is really supposed to reflect the spirit of the season, be upbeat and fun, let people share their holiday traditions and different faith traditions,” said North Carolina Democratic Rep. Deborah K. Ross, who has participated since she came to office in 2021. “So this is not in keeping with the spirit of the season.”
- Crane has fired back, brushing off the criticism. “I wish Democrats were as triggered about all the families whose lives have been destroyed by the consequences of an open-border as they are about Christmas decorations,” he said in an emailed statement.
- His display features smiling, sparkly elves perched on a brick wall, under other signs that read “Port of Entry” and “Welcome to Arizona.”
- And Crane isn’t the only member to take aim across the aisle. Outside the office of Georgia Republican Rep. Mike Collins is a bag of coal addressed to Hamas, a naughty list featuring prominent Democrats like Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and a cutout of Hunter Biden with a caption that says “Let it Snow.”
Defense Bill Agreement Angers Hard Right, Posing a Threat to Johnson - The New York Times The New York Times Key Excerpts: - The annual defense bill has become entangled in a tumultuous Republican feud in the House.
- The dispute over the $886 billion military policy bill, considered one of the few pieces of legislation Congress is obligated to pass every year, is unlikely to sink the legislation altogether.
- But it has created a political crisis for Speaker Mike Johnson, who has come under withering criticism from ultraconservative Republicans for his handling of government spending measures and now faces a backlash over what is normally a broadly popular bill.
- The bill has been a lightning rod for controversy since this summer, when House Republicans, under pressure from the far right to combat what they charged was “wokeness” in the military, packed it with measures to roll back abortion access, health care for transgender service members and diversity, equity and inclusion training.
- But the Democrat-led Senate passed a far more restrained version, and in closed-door talks between the two chambers, House negotiators abandoned almost all of their most extreme policy dictates, including one that would have banned drag shows on military bases.
- Now Mr. Johnson is bracing for a rebellion over the bill on the right that is all but unavoidable.
- “I would say that this is a building block,” said Representative Eli Crane, Republican of Arizona, one of the eight Republicans who voted to oust Mr. McCarthy. “It leads to more disappointment.”

Great to catch up with Navajo Council Delegates Claw and Simonson. We had a productive discussion about access to gravel pits, healthcare and education.
Far too often, the Department of the Interior is an impediment to progress.
